29.5 x 22.5cm, 98pp plus colour wrappers. Single and very first issue of this explicit pornographic magazine which contains Cosey Fanny Tutti in an extensive feature entitled “Ladybird’s fantasy dreams” where Cosey is “Pauline” one of two girls who have latent lesbian fantasies. There are 35 large full colour photographs spread over 16 pages which are mostly gynaecological in content. The text supposedly tells the tale of the two girl’s sexual adventures together in a lengthy dream sequence which is illustrated by the images. Later the magazine changed its title to Playbirds as the Ladybird publishers threatened legal action. Interestingly there is a horrific double-page, colour centre-fold of a young girl killed in Cambodia “at the height of Richard Nixon’s war” and an editorial below which argues that such things are the real pornography and that the government should legalise “heterosexual pornography for adults immediately” with no mention of gay pornography. VG condition – one of many such magazines from which Cosey and Genesis P-Orridge used to gain funds to finance their art activities elsewhere. Very scarce.
