20.2 x 13.8cm, 48pp. Five full-page drawings by Andre Lhote. Original wrappers. First edition of this very early Dada-period cycle of poems by Eluard, as illustrated by Lhote. One of 550 examples on velin from the total issue of 575.

At about this time, Eluard both formulated the revue ‘Proverbe’ with Paul Dermee, and engaged in the manifold activities and scandals of the ‘Literature Group’ (note the imprint of the title offered here). One of 500 numbered copies on velin d’alfa. As usually found here the paper is slightly browned (and sadly sunned where the book has been left partially in the light with another book on top of it) and there is spine damage with minor paper loss although this is internally very good but this is priced thus to take account of these minor flaws on this rare title.
