LIP. 1985. ONE OF ONLY 12 HANDPAINTED COPIES.

27.8 x 21.5cm, 20pp appropriated contemporary fashion catalogue, with gold leather cover and pink tissue paper which has a hand-coloured alterations in chroma key blue to the images i.e. the models are painted out on each page in blue. The fashion photographs used in the catalogue were all taken against General Idea artworks by the original publishers, by removing the models from each page GI theoretically allowed the artworks to reclaim the page (although in practice the painted sections are still foregrounded). Reference: no. 94 “General Idea: Multiples”.

One of ONLY 12 copies – signed and numbered. Near fine. Exceptionally rare. A very beautiful artist’s book and perhaps it is fair to speculate, the choice of a deep blue and the simple gold wrappers is a nod to Yves Klein.
