MULTIPLES THE FIRST DECADE. 1971.

£100.00

Philadelphia: Museum of Modern Art, 1971

23 x 14cm (4cm deep). Unpaginated (c. 54pp), self cover. Exhibition catalogue consisting of heavy, red, yellow, green, blue and purple pages glue and a linen-bound spine, made with snaps to allow the first and last pages to be joined so that the book may be displayed as a fanned cylinder). The book looks as if it has no cover but this is the design.

A useful resource for the subject matter: the publication displays 65 b/w photographic plates on bound-in white pages. Here the card sleeve “Multiples” is present and removable.

The spine here has a little of the paper from the inside of the sleeve still attached but this is not noticeable until the sleeve is removed and this is a good example of an interesting design bookwork which is only available elsewhere damaged (the fanning out idea was misconceived as the pages tended to come away from the glue binding. Hence very scarce in this VG+ condition and an attractive and unusual catalogue.
