NUNNORNAS HUS. DIKTER. 1937. LITHOGRAPHS BY STELLAN MORNER

£195.00

Stockholm: Holger Schildt, 1937.

17 x 24.5cm. 176pp. Twelve original full-page b/w lithographs by Morner. Wrappers with an original lithographed design (also) by Morner. First edition of this poetic collection, as illustrated by the Swedish Surrealist.

Morner was a member of the Halmstad collective, which was loosely constituted in 1929 by Axel and Erik Olson, Sven Jonson, Wald Lorentzon, et al. In 1934 the group made contact with the Parisian Surrealists, and from thereon participated in various group exhibitions, including the International Surrealist Exhibition of 1936 (London). The work offered here, represents a rather early example (in a book context) of Morner’s inventive approach to the Surrealist image. A primarily unopened, albeit raggedly trimmed example with thumbnail paper loss at the rear wrapper, else in very good estate. Scarce.
