142 x 75cm large format b/w cartoon poster of the British Labour Prime Minister smoking a large pipe (as was his want) within which his deputy George Brown is hiding. The cartoon has large speech bubbles which are left blank for the owner of the poster to fill in an appropriate witticism. Elphick’s drawings were frequently used in the UK satirical magazine Private Eye (founded by Peter Cook and Richard Ingram amongst others) and this is a fine period example of what presumably requires a large DIY element of wit. Folded and torn along various folds but still an interesting item, priced thus.
