Dussedorf: Stadtische Kunsthalle, 1969
36 x 26cm, 56pp. Tabloid newspaper. The exceptionally important exhibition catalogue for the defining exhibition of conceptual art in Europe – as curated and edited by Fishcher and Strelow although many other German and US galleries participated in the event. The catalogue is written in three languages – German, English and French and has black and white images as well as the original stripe pagework by Daniel Buren in blue across the centre fold. The galleries who took part included Ace (Los Angeles), Art & Project (Amsterdam), L’attico (Rome), Eugenia Butler (Los Angeles), Bykert (New York), Dwan (New York), Fischbach (New York), Toni Gerber (Bern), Yvon Lambert (Paris), Mickery (Loenersloot), Seiquer (Madrid), Ileana Sonnabend (Paris), Sperone (Torino), Wide White Space (Antwerpen), Howard Wise (New York) and Seth Siegelaub (New York). There is also an important text by Seth Siegelaub who interviewed Robert Barry, Douglas Heubler, Lawrence Weiner and Joe Kosuth as his own contribution to the show. This copy is in very good condition with (as always) general wear and small cuts to the cheap newsprint employed throughout and along the spine and some yellowing of the paper due to the passing of over 40 years. As almost always found it has also been folded for storage – but very few pristine copies of this rare document are found.
