Toronto: General Idea, 1993
8cm dia, printed cardboard coaster with an appropriated 4 x 8.5cm floral scented seal soap (supposedly found at a pharmacy by one of the member’s mothers and noticing its resemblance to the artists’ installation Fin de siècle, she bought a few as gifts, General Idea then contacted the supplier to buy the remaining stock and printed pulpboard bases for each to sit on). The soap after 25 years has began to sweat (this will be true of the entire edition) and some of the detail is beginning to be lost. Let’s be honest – a lot of artists no longer conditioner long term conservation of their work. Over 10,000 were produced, but they are now scarce and hard to find.
