STUDIO INTERNATIONAL SPECIALLY DESIGNED COVER BY BROODTHAERS. 1974.

£175.00

Single issue of Studio International October 1974
London: SIP, 1974
31 x 24cm, 172pp plus card covers. Single number of this long lived magazine – this issue notable for the full colour cover which was specially designed for the magazine by Marcel Broodthaers (and unpublished elsewhere) Unusual for SI, the cover image is extended to the rear cover (where usually an expensive advert would be placed). Internally there is a very short article by Broodthaers in English and French where he appeals for the Wiertz Museum to be saved (under-threat from property developers) with some irony – on the basis that such over-blown excesses are a critical warning for the future (“If I can’t quite say that I love the Weirtz Museum as much as I love my great grandfather…..”). Another good article by Balthassar discusses the much under-appreciated Daily Bul publication. Slight wear and tear but otherwise very good. A near forgotten Broodthaers’ work in magazine format.
