Los Angeles: Gemini G.E.L., 1976
Two 1200 x 20cm sheets joined to make a total 1200 x 20cm scroll printed in black and white offset recto and verso with eleven b/w illustrations. This is one of Los Angeles-based Gemini G.E.L.’s more unique print/multiple prospectuses announcing the publication of eight lithographs and a black urethane sculptural multiple after Claes Oldenburg’s 1976 “The Soft Screw” project. When left to unravel naturally the scroll mirrors the “soft screw” in some sort of manner that is rather pleassing (see pic) This example is still in its original mailing box which has a label addressed to Ms. Noma Copley to whom William Copley was married and was an artist in her own right. An interesting association. VG+ in VG mailing tube.
