Antwerpen: Wide White Space, Antwerp, 1973
52.1 x 76.8 artist poster/announcement which were posted outside the premises of the WWS and continued through the doors and inside the side wall of building in a continuous line: both inviting passers-by into the gallery and being the totality of the exhibition at the same time. Typically simultaneously testing the meaning of painting/representation and the role of the exhibition space, Buren had 5 annual exhibitions at WWS in 1969, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974. For each show, he used the same paper but with different coloured stripes (each stripe is always printed at 8.7cm wide) with a different colour for each year. This is the blue poster offered here in VG condition although with slight browning in areas on the front.
