Kassel, s.p. (Broodthaers), le 27 juin 1968
27.5 x 21.5 cm. 1pp mimeographed b/w open letter with text in French. One of a number of letters created by Broodthaers as a means of disseminating his thoughts and activities within the art community – the content being sometimes polemical and at other times poetic. This letter published on the day after the opening of the “Documenta” 4 in Kassel, was also used for the artist plaque Academie III, 1968. The text reflects the artist’s early habit (after turning from poetry to art) of moulding Cezanne’s perfect shapes out of clay by the use of his fingers only. Very good condition although formerly folded for mailing and minor fading and paper loss. Rare.
