£750.00
A collection of 14 small hand made cloth bags each with a number or letter silkscreened on them.
These are the performance relics from a 1993 show by Alison Knowles – at the opening of her exhibition “Corners” at Unimedia, Genoa, she gave visitors a bag each and asked them to add a picture from a newspaper cutting or a written phrase and then enquired what kind of bean the visitor preferred – at which point she added a bean to each bag.
These 14 bags were left over from the performance and are in various sizes, colours and are un-ironed.
Along side the bags are handwritten instructions by Knowles in Italian (she had copied the words from a translated text by the curator Catrina Gualco who supplied the letterheaded paper). Folded for storage.
Unique Fluxus performance relic. The photograph of Knowles shows her preparing one of the bags.
