London: Bompass & parr, 2017
30 x 21cm, full colour photographic print. An older man’s bottom having sat on a frozen ice cream (Viennetta chocolate and vanilla). This was part of a photographic series where various volunteers sat on food stuffs (cakes, etc) for the artists who work primarily in food and drink related artworks. Later these were shown in a Dutch museum and also went viral online. The photograph here is of artist Paul Robertson’s rather unattractive bottom, he had just sat on the frozen cake which Bompass & Parr had not told him had been in the freezer for several months and the experience (it is Paul Robertson writing this) was a painful one as the ice cream spikes were like needles. The photograph is signed by Robertson on the reverse. Unique thus as most of the photographs were used digitally or presented in a much larger format in the exhibition. Fine.
