UNTITLED (GREEK ALPHABET). 1969.

21.5 x 27cm, 2pp, red on white offset lithograph which shows the Greek alphabet in Broodthaer’s facsimile handwriting in the lower case variety and then six capital letter variants which are crossed out – all alongside a large outline drawing of a lit candle with wax falling off it. Verso can be found the texts: “Marcel Broodthaers, 1969, 21,5 x 27cm” on the left and on the lower right: “Galerie Michael Werner, Koln” both in small font size. An unknown (at least in the reference books) small pagework / lithographic work by Broodthaers which appears to have been issued at the Exposition Litteraire et Musicale autour de Mallarme which tool place at Werner in Košln in this year. There are two vertical fold lines, some significant discolouration to the paper (possibly smoke damage) and some closed tears but otherwise very good. Rare.
