UNTITLED (SKOOB). 1959. UNIQUE & VERY EARLY LATHAM WORK.

7.5 x 7.5 x 1cm, found book which has been deliberately and extensively (perhaps 30 – 40% of the original book remains) burnt by Latham and then c. 12 pages throughout the book painted in blue, green, gold, orange and yellow.
A unique sculptural bookwork by Latham – made in 1959 – and is one of the artist’s first SKOOBS (books backwards) that he later became well known for.
Early Skoobs are extremely hard to find and all are important objects in the history of conceptual art.
