Paris (Le Plessis-Robinson): L’Anarchie, 1905 – 1909

Two hundred and nine single numbers of this landmark French anarchist publication. Uniformly 50 x 34cm, 4pp. A lengthy continuous run of this long lasting radical publication which lasted until 1914 and the outbreak of the first world war. Centred around a concept of “individualism” which later fuelled a concept of “illegalism”where criminality was seen as a valid response to the state’s oppression. Articles by Albert Libertad, André Lorulot, Victor Serge, Zo d’Axa and Rirette Maitrejean and others. This run is mostly in VG condition although the paper is browned after 100 years and some pages are dog-eared and with folds at the extremities. There is some nascent foxing and some does have some damage that only affects the borders but almost all are complete and without tears (and where there are tears they are almost all closed tears) – only the last number 209 is damaged in any significant way. This is a scarce publication especially in such a long run.
