Issued on Bastille Day 2022, Smithee’s clothing patch is in the shape of a guillotine and has the text “ROBESPIERRE WAS CUTTING EDGE” on it. The artist, a professed republican, has said that while the Terror of the French Revolution “probably went too far”, “it did make a point”.
