25 x 19cm, 282pp plus pictorial card covers. Exhibition catalogue and monograph following the artist's major and large scale exhibition in the city. Full colour images throughout and essays in Portuguese and French by Diana Wechsler, Jean Herbert Martin and an interview with Anibal Jozami. One installation not seen elsewhere to our knowledge was in the Bibliotheque Nationale with 500 books suspended in the air above the room.
The photographic records of the events and the viewers are somewhat interesting and in some ways this is a photo-book of the exhibition and the visit. VG+.

Exhibition catalogue issued for an exhibition from Paul Robertson's collection of works, artist's books and ephemera which was the first ever exhibition at the Summerhall Art Centre. Text in English by Robertson, six images of works in colour and a listing of the entire contents of the show. VG+.

21.2 x 12.4cm, 44pp plus card covers. Exhibition catalogue with 4 colour images and 4 b/w images of shadow projections onto the outside of buildings from silhouettes cut out by the artist. Eight b/w lithographs reproduce the cut outs. Essay in French by Estelle Beauseigneur and an interview with Boltanski with Xavier Douroux. VG+.

Two full page images of works and a double centre page b/w photograph of the Japanese Island where the "archive of the heart" (recordings of many people's hearts volunteered from visitors to the museum exhibitions will be stored. Milano: Charta, Date: 2002
24 x 17cm, 72pp plus picotiral card covers. Monograph cum exhibition catalogue on the occasion of a major installation by the artist in the Palermo Monte di Pieta. Vestments are hung with images of faces on them, a shadow play installation, a floor covered in flowers and the wonderful wooden walls of the building with various commemorative portraits surrounded by bulbs and their associated wiring are reproduced in b/w and colour at the back of the catalogue preceeded by a text by Sergio Troisi in English and Italian. 21 x 15cm, 28pp plus printed transparent wrappers. Exhibition catalogue for a major installation in a former church. Seven full sheet b/w photographs of the exhibition. Interview with Boltanski in German with Fried Mennekes. From the 90s Boltanski has sought to place exhibitions in religious buildings as well as museums. VG+.

Helsinki: Helsinki Festival / Kunsthalle Helsinki, 1998
33 x 25cm, 86pp including 40pp of b/w images of the installation. Gray cloth-covered boards with title stamped in gray and red on cover. Exhibition catalogue for "Christian Boltanski: Night in August," which was part of the Helsinki Festival. Boltanski's installation was "Dernières Années" which consisted of several sections - a clothing collection (folded and placed on shelves), objects and images covered in black cloth (as if shrouded) to hide their content and a major archive of tin boxes with faces of unidentified people. There is an essay (in Finnish, Swedish and English) by Michael Glasmeier and an interview with Boltanski (in Finnish, Swedish and English) by Jan Kaila. VG+.

Valencia: La Imprenta Comunicación Gráfica, 1998
25.4 x 18cm, slipcase content of two volumes - both 25 x 17.6cm, 86pp and 212pp respectively plus blue boards. The ornate exhibition catalogue(s) for a major site-specific installation where Boltanski placed many objects and pieces of furniture in a former silo and offered them for sale. When any item was sold, a white sheet was placed over the object to create an ever increasing sense of being a mortuary. Additionally hidden audio speakers were placed among the objects, recounting personal stories and memories attached to each item. Some of the stories are recounted in this book. Essay by Jose Miguel G. Cortes.
Texts are in Spanish and Catalan, with an English summary in the first volume. Illustrated throughout in b/w. VG+.

Paris: Musee d'Art Moderne de la Ville de paris, 1998
26.5 x 21cm, 28pp plus card covers. Exhibition catalogue that has an important text "Le Voyage au Perou/The Journey to Peru" which is in French and English. The text gives insights into the artist's practice - how he likes to reinstall works which change depending on the situation, the role of objects as a means of referencing "humanity" in his installations, the role of memory and archiving in his work and the importance of religion in art, the issue of death and its denial by society, and the artist's "journey to Peru' which relatees to the chronological experiences and knowledge. Black and white images of installations and works throughout. A wonderful catalogue. VG+.
