A SIGNIFICANT & EXTENSIVE COLLECTION OF POSTERS BY JOSEPH BEUYS. 1965 – 1986.

Here we offer an extensive and significant collection of 91 posters designed or approved by Joseph Beuys and 9 posthumous posters from exhibitions relating to the artist.

 

Twenty-seven of the cards are signed by Beuys and sometimes rubber stamped. Some are regarded as edition multiples in the Schellmann catalogue raisonne.

LECTURES AND DISCUSSION WITH JOSEPH BEUYS AND CAROLINE TISDALL. 1974.

Belfast: Ulster Museum Botanic Gardens, 1974<BR> 50.2 x25.1cm, black on white offset poster displaying a handwritten text from Beuys taken from one of his lectures.  Announcing a public meeting taking place during the Secret Block exhibition in Ireland. VG+. Prestel Beuys Posters nr 60. Scarce.<BR><BR>

JOSEPH BEUYS DISCUSSION. 1974. VARIANT NOT IN PRESTEL POSTERS.

Belfast: Ulster Museum Botanis Gardens, 1974 48.4 x 63.2cm, black on white offset lithographic poster with an image of the artist's hands working on a drawing. One of a number of similar designed posters for a travelling show of the title drawings - the same image was used for both the exhibition and the "discussion" - a public meeting with Beuys attending to discuss art and politics. There were two "discussions" in Belfast each with a different poster with minor text changes - this is the first which was misprinted originally - and the name "JOSEPH BEUYS" has been tipped on over the original text to correct it. VG+ condition. Ver scarce. Prestel Beuys posters only lists one of the two posters at nr 61 and NOT this one.

SOZIALE PLASTIK. 1976. NO TEXT VARIANT. STAMPED BY BEUYS.

Achberger: Achberger Verlag, 1975<BR> 60 x 42cm, black on cream offset lithographic poster  released by the press in two variants - one with text, and this one without - to promote a publication Sozial Plastik. Has a FIU red rubber stamp impression on the front and the publisher's details in blue on the back. Folded for mailing else VG. Not in Prestel Beuys Posters.<BR><BR>

Dusseldorf: n.p., 1977<BR> 63 x 87.5cm, full colour offset lithograph and silkscreen  with images of Beuys and Wilp and a vintage image of the composer Heine. Both artists have signed the print under their images. Some slight edge damage else VG+. This is numbered in pencil from the edition of 100 copies. Prestel Beuys Posters nr 89.<BR><BR>

Achberg: Achberger Verlagsanstalt, 1976. 42 x 29.7cm, black on brown kraft paper -  lithographic offset exhibition poster with an image of Beuys running on a beach and a text promoting a Beuys' publication Soziale Plastik. This example of the poster is signed by the artist in pencil and rubber stamped with a FIU red impression over the image. VG+. Not in Beuys Pretel Posters.
