NYC: S.p. (Pechter), n.d. (1970)
3- x 22cm, 1pp offset handout. Pechter’s “Art Device No. 4” was one of a number of different works each permanently installed throughout the city (usually in galleries) which the audience were meant to find. This handbill was published in a huge number of copies (15,000) and explains that anyone wishing to locate the randomly placed, unlabelled devices may receive exact information on their whereabouts by sending the artist a stamped, self-addressed envelope. Folded for storage. some mild edge damage and slight browning also at the edges due to cheap paper being employed else VG. A scarce ephemeral item referenced in Lippard’s Dematerialisation of the art object.
