London: L-17, 2019
64 x 45cm, six colour silkscreen print on 400gsm Optimum Grey Backed White Lined Chipboard – one of 350 such prints each signed by Jamie Reid and Jimmy Cauty. The tower block is the Grenville Tower block which was destroyed in a huge fire caused primarily by right-wing neglect and lack of oversight into the adding of flammable cladding to the outside of the building. 72 people died because of the British Conservative Party’s inability to run a local authority for ordinary people rather than the rich in Kensington and Chelsea. The figure of Boudica is overprinted – suggesting revenge on behalf of the people on their overlords. One of 350 examples signed and numbered by both Jamie Reid and Jimmy Cauty. Strangely when purchased at the Art Boot Fair in London in 2019 Cauty took a square “chunk” out of the bottom of the card using a screwdriver. It is sold as it is – each copy in the series was unique with different colour variations and placings and the removal of the card is yet another unique variant. Else VG. In original printed shipping box.
