Kassel/Hannover: s.p.. (Ulrichs), n.d. (1968)
21 x 27cm, 2pp b/w offset lithograph. A handout with the text on one side: “KUNST IS LEBEN, LEBEN IS KUNST”: a slogan which indicated the use of his own body and life to be the subject of his art. He claimed that he regarded himself as “the perfect gesamtkunstwerk”.
The second side of the leaflet claims that his body is an addendum to the official catalogue for Documenta 4 – and that he is “the first living work of art” and he is presenting a “world exhibition” – “da totalkunst-weltbild /die welt als bild” alongside a small sculpture of painted world globes in a storage jar. Formerly folded twice for storage and two small holes from a former staple else VG. Scarce early ephemera.
