25.5 x 19cm, b/w vintage press photograph printed in 1972. The image is of the “self-confessed Mao-ist” at a press conference in his home called soon after a “faculty group” recommended his sacking as Associate Professor of English at Stanford University. According to the legend his firing was initiated because of his “inciting anti-war demonstrations at the university”. “He says he is fighting for his job so he can express his revolutionary beliefs”. This wire photograph has a date stamp on the back: “Jan 14 1972”. VG+ condition. Provenance: part of a group of press photographs decommission from the Seattle Times Library.
