17.5 x 23.5cm, b/w vintage AP Wire press photograph printed in 1959. The image is of two white policemen politely taking two white women (presumably segregationists) into custody after a white protest in favour of segregation got out of hand and the crowd tried to “push through police lines.” The legend notes “four people were arrested .. (and)… five in the crowd were injured.” On the reverse there is a AP copyright stamp and hand written title in ink and a date stamp: “Aug 14 1959”. Overall VG+ condition although the photograph is very slightly browned on back. Provenance: part of a group of press photographs decommissioned from the Seattle Times Library.
