Paris, Editions du Seuil-“Pierres Vives”, 1947
19 x 14.2cm, . 212pp. Original wrappers. First edition of this, the artist’s first book; an extended essay on De Sade (displaying the long-term attraction of the libertine on all who were touched by the radicalising influence of pre-war surrealism).
This copy is not only blind-punched SP for “service du press” but has a signed hand written dedication in Pierre Klossowski’s attractive hand to a friend on the half page and has the original publisher’s mailing label inserted. A little browned but otherwise near fine. Scarce.
