San Francisco: Avalon Ballroom, 1967
36 x 50cm, black and gold offset on heavy paper for the second of the series of famous concerts at the Avalon Ballroom as promoted by the Family Dog and here starring Big Brother and the Holding Company (who had Janis Joplin as the lead singer) and Quicksilver Messenger Service. Ben van Meter and Roger Hillyard were the named lighting technicians (which at the time were as much of an attraction to a stoned out crowd as the bands). Fine condition – rare first printing displaying a photograph by Bob Seidemann in b/w of James Gurley, Big Brother’s guitar player, as a young man with feathers (not flowers) in his hair.
