TAR BABIES OF THE NEW AGE ORDER. 1997. ONE OF 150 SIGNED & NUMBERED SILKSCREENS IN FOLDER.

£495.00

Venice: Nuova Icona, 1997

50 x 35cm, 4pp printed outer folder with colophon and quote from Morris content of a 47 x 33.5cm, two colour silkscreen showing two putti /tar babies seemingly fighting. The work was issued during the exhibition by Morris of the same name. The idea of a “tar baby” comes from a tale by Uncle Remus – and is regarded as a metaphor for any conflict where further intervention makes matters worse. Morris has a pessimistic view of the international politics of the day – and who might argue with him? VG+ in like folder.
