NYC: Communist Party of the USA, 1972
25.5 x 41cm, b/w offset lithographic poster on semi-gloss paper produced for the 20th Convention of the Communist Party USA (CPUSA) in New York, in February 1972. The artist is only known as “Sherman” and depicts Angela Davis, looking over a globe. In 1970, firearms registered to Davis were used in an armed takeover of a courtroom in Marin County, California, in which four people were killed. She was prosecuted for three capital felonies, including conspiracy to murder. After over a year in jail, she was acquitted of the charges in 1972. There is faint, shallow stain to left and upper margins, else VG+. Scarce political poster.
