With a cover illustration by Teige, this post war surrealist novel in which a young girl brought up in isolation by her grandmother enters society only to find it increasingly perplexing and strange. Later made into a film (albeit not by Nezval despite his post-war posting as head of the film department at the Czech Ministry of Information), this is an important novel by the founder of the Devetsil and surrealist groups.
