ZERREISSPROBE 1970. ORIGINAL VINTAGE PHOTOGRAPH OF ACTION.

£600.00

Koln: Edition Hundertmark, 1970
31 x 24cm, black on white silver print. An original image from the performance that Brus carried out in the Munich Aktionsraum in 1970, the artist (dressed in stockings and suspenders) proceeded to make real and faux self-harming actions using scissors, razors, etc and panting his body with white and long red lines that simulated blood. This was the last of his “self-mutilation actions”. This photograph was the original used for an edition later released by the Hundertmark Gallery – one the back is written “Gunter Brus, “Zerreissprobe” 1970, aus Karton der edition Hundertmark.” And a rubber stamp impression of the gallery address top left – neither affects the print. In this image Brus is resting against a radiator in the room and a long trail of blood can bee seen to run from the top of his shaved head all the way down to his bottom. VG+. Unique in this format.
