One of the elements from the NYC exhibition 'Richard Tuttle: A lamp, a chair, a chandelier' where large scale furniture pieces designed by Tuttle (fabricated by Tim Wells) were shown. This is one of only 19 such large lamps created - 50 were planned but most remained unmade. Very minor nicks to back edge and top else VG+. Scarce and an unusual functional object multiple from the artist.

Aluminium foil, wax, ash, wood. 10cm x 29cm x 5cm hand sculpted aluminium foil - the unique maquette for a series of 13 works cast in aluminium and one in silver (the silver example is exactly like this original with a space for a candle). The tube like structure has stepped ends and a hollowed out hole in the centre to hold a candle. This is the model for Tuttle's 1988 piece Ring of Fire, exhibited in his 2002 Memento / cENTER show. This work is effectively a handmade candle holder and a candle has been deliberately melted down to the base while placed in the maquette by Tuttle. The work shows evidence of the casting process but is wholly intact, and may be regarded as a separate unique work due to the intervention of the artist by burning the candle. There is an original handmade wood and marble plinth which was made by the master caster John Brazenell (to whom Tuttle gave this work) and a custom built plastic transparent case. This can be included with any purchase if desired. Price on Application

Munchen/NYC: Edition Heiner Friedrich/Brooke Alexander, 1977 75 x 51cm card portfolio box with hand written title content of three, coloured, double sided lithographs - each 71.1 x 48.3cm. The work is designed to be hung in a variety of different combinations at an exact height from the floor and in the case of single sheets in the centre of a white wall - as outlined by Tuttle. This is one of 50 hand-numbered and signed examples. Two of the sheets in this set were previously hung by the publishers in an exhibition and this example has eyelets inserted into the hanging holes on two of the lithographs to prevent their being damaged by the nails, the third lithograph has only the pin holes. Original card separator sheets extant. Priced thus although we do not see the grommets as necessarily a flaw.

This copy is is one of 150 copies that has a 19 x 15 cm loose phototype (Lichtdruck) "Design for a Poster 9" 1985 which is igned and numbered by Tuttle on the back. Additionally the exhibition catalogue which was designed as an artist book is also signed and numbered by Tuttle and is in original silver unprinted slip case. All VG+.

Koln: Koenig, 1998 20. 5 x 20.5cm, 24pp plus grey covered boards with printed image and texts in colour. This is an unique artist's book which was issued by Walther Koenig as a special release at the same time as the original. There were 40 such books but each differed with an "extension" of the book. Tuttle made a paper cut/collage/fold with a minimal drawing by Tuttle and a short four word handwritten poem by Bernstein. Each book was signed and numbered on the back of the sheet. The artist's book was created in collaboration with the poet Charles Bernstein and refers to the group of works "New Mexico - New York" created in 1997/98, which was first exhibited at the Sperone Westwater Gallery in New York (February/March 1998) and was published on the occasion of the award ceremony at the Ludwig Forum for International Art in Aachen on December 11, 1998. Lasered hand drawn title backed with binder’s gauze, colophon silk screened on double layered sticker that hides the handwritten (printed) poem ‘Water free’ by Richard Tuttle. Tuttle made a series of colored drawings and collage that only have a life in this artist book. This is one of the 100 signed and numbered copies by Richard Tuttle. The book commemorates an outdoor sculpture of the same name as part of the Noorderlicht International Photofestival 2004.

The folded sections have then been glued between original wrappers with gum that allows the book to be split apart. As usual an unusual design by the artist. Fine. Increasingly scarce.

Munich: Kunstraum München, 1973 32 x 25cm black on manilla card folder content of 46pp. unbound sheets and a 30 x 21cm, brown with printed text containing the "11th Paper Octagonal" - a shaped die cut white paper of paper with sides. The latter being an object mulitple by Tuttle (one of a number of different octagonal objects made). The text on the envelope reads: "My intention in including it in the documentation is simply to exercise and to watch the possibilities inherent in the nature of this work. (Such an 'inclusion' in such a way as we can be fully aware of them.)" The internal card sheets create the exhibition catalogue for a wall work in Munich with texts in German (including statements by the artist, and a bibliography and a number of ) and images in b/w and colour of elements of the work. One of 1,000 copies issued. Very slight marking to the outer folder else VG+ with internal pages and multiple are near fine.
