ŒUVRES POUR CHIENS, 1992. BOLDLY SIGNED BY ROLAND SABATIER.

£120.00

Nice: Galerie Artcade, n.d. (1992)

88 x 60cm, large format poster issued during the ” Œuvres pour chiens” (Work for Dogs) exhibition – the print has a number of drawings of dogs each with a speech bubble in the tradition of detournment. They discuss avant garde art and the exhibition. This is folded several times for mailing and is very boldly signed in pencil by Sabatier along the bottom of the print. The exhibition hung works only 40cm from the ground (pooch head height) and also included large femur bones and kibble. The speech that Sabatier made suggested that dogs were a worthy recipient of his art as much as people. A similar exhibition of that of Dieter Roth and Richard Hamilton in 1988 in Spain (which apparently was originally an idea of Marcel Broodthaers) but it appears the Lettriste did not know of the other show.  Scarce. VG+.
