P. A. GETTE. 1968. ONE OF ONLY 50 SIGNED & NUMBERED COPIES  WITH SIGNED & NUMBERED SILKSCREEN AND “MUSICAL SUPPLEMENT”

Malmö, Editions du Miroir, 1968 25 x 16.5cm, 20pp plus original wrappers. Artist’s book which consists of 15 b/w images of early Gette sculptures (mostly based around letters and typography). Additionally there is a 25 x 16.5cm, 1pp "musical supplement" by Jean-Claude Moineau printed on transparent paper and a 25 x 16.5cm 1pp monogrammed and numbered original silkscreen print by P. A. Gette. There is a short essay by Heidsieck to introduce the works. The book is additionally signed and numbered in ink by Bernard Heidsieck on the colophon page (nr 26) from the total edition of 50 copies. A very early Gette publication which has a b/w portrait of the artist as frontispiece. VG+.

L’EXCURSION DU 14 FÉVRIER 1973. 1974. ONE OF ONLY 10 EXAMPLES WITH ORIGINAL UNIQUE PHOTOGRAPH & FIVE ADDITIONAL PHOTOGRAPHS. SIGNED & NUMBERED.

Liège: Yellow Now, 1974 19 x 12.5cm, 20pp plus card covers. Artist’s book documenting an early Gette excursion to Mont Rigi and Baroque Michel and other places in Belgium to investigate the landscape. The internal pages have five original small b/w silver gelatine photographs of grasses and other vegetation tipped on with legends. Additionally this is one of only 10 copies on Hollande Van Gelder which has an additional original b/w silver gelatine photograph as frontispiece (mounted on thicker card). The signatures are unbound in the wrappers. The book is signed and numbered “5" in pencil by Gette on the colophon page. There were 67 other copies of the book but unsigned and without the original unique photograph. Clearly rare. VG+.

Liège, Yellow Now, 1976 13 x 19,5 cm, 14pp plus card covers. Artist’s book which investigates the flora and fauna around a lake in Sweden (Ringsjön). The book consists of 7 b/w images of the lake, insects and vegetation with legends as to location. This is one of 20 deluxe copies (aside from another 230 numbered copies) which has an original 9 x 12.4cm, b/w silver gelatine photographic print (which has been annotated in red felt pen as 1 m square) showing a measured out 1m square where Gette investigated what might be found within the boundary of the area.   The book is signed and numbered 17 in pencil by Gette on the colophon page. Clearly rare. VG+.

N..p. (Paris): n.p., c. 1991 24 x 24cm, 1pp black and yellow offset lithographic print. The image is reproduced photograph of a pressed black ink from rumpled paper with the artist's hands applying Naples Yellow to the image. Gettte was fascinated with rocks and lava and created a series of works over the decades of burnt paper to represent stones and lava (Calcinations) to which he would add the colour yellow usually by smearing. This is one of 75 signed and numbered prints. VG+.
