18 x 21cm, b/w vintage AP Wire press photograph printed in 1957. The image shows eight out of the nine black students who had to be daily escorted into Central High School by State Troopers after a successful court battle leaving the school in the evening on the way to the Army Station Wagon that transported them daily to and from the educational facility. There is a newspaper clipping on the back of the photograph showing the same image and a short legend which is glued down and hand written size measurements for a paste-down and several date stamps: “Oct 3 1957”. Overall VG+ condition although the photograph is slightly rippled and there is a repaired torn area on the left which is approx 2 x 0.75cm. Bottom of the photograph is torn neatly to remove a previous legend. Provenance: part of a group of press photographs decommissioned from the Seattle Times Library.
