INSCAPE. 1976.

Edinburgh: Scottish Arts Council, 1976
15 x 10.6.cm, 48pp plus pictorial wrappers and bound in errata slip. Exhibition catalogue for a group show at the SAC which not only included Finlay but also Eileen Lawrence, Will Maclean, Glen Onwin, Fred Stiven and Ainslie Yule, the whole curated by Paul Overy of "landscape" inspired art. The cover has a Finlay small work on the front (Landscape/Interior) and 16 works are listed internally as well as two others in b/w ('Homage to Kandinsky' and 'Emden Relief' (a sculpture of a cruiser at Stoneypath). The errata slip has two mistakes of names of Finlay works on it which no doubt irritated the poet. Looking at the catalogue is is clear Finlay is by far the most significant of the artists showing.
This was a show at a time when Finlay and the SAC were willing to work together - later the poet withdrew works from a planned SAC exhibition in 1977 because he felt the organisaiton insufficiently supported him in various disputes he was becoming embroiled in. Some nascent foxing to wrappers and end papers else §VG+. Scarce.

Exhibition catalogue for a worldwide survey visual poetry show with works from Anceschi, Andrafe, Boso, Caraballo, Herman, Ogaz, Oswald Weiner, Zabala, Viola, Setsuko and others as well as Finlay collaborating with Maxwell Allan alongside Bob Cobbing, John Furnival, Lillane Lyn, David Mayor and Alan Ridell from Britain. Curated by Giuliano Della Casa and Alessandro Serra. Finlay's work is not illustrated not mentioned in the catalogue essay by Adriano Spatola.
JOINT: Bologna: Galleria comunale d'art moderna di Bologna, 1977 20 x 20cm, 1pp typographic announcement leaflet with Finlay being the only British artist mentioned in the leaflet. VG+.

Design and typography by Ron Costley and essays by Stephen Bann, Douglas Hall, Miles Orvell and Stephen Scobie with a poem "Stonypath" by Kathleen Raine. An exhibition catalogue for a show of works which were "collaborations" with other artists (which is almost all of Finlay;'s works). VG+.

An exhibition catalogue with an "imaginary portrait" of Finlay by Stephan Bann and various illustrations and photographs of works and an insert on cream laid paper "The Wartime Garden" by Finlay illustrated by Ron Costley (which was also published elsewhere). VG+.

A SPOKEN SPACE. 1979.

Geneva: Galérie Gaëtan,1979 31 x 31cm, double gate fold record sleeve content of a 30.5 x 30.5cm, 12pp exhibition catalogue for a group show of spoken and sound work to which Finlay is credited as a contributor.
Finlay has made very few sound works (this may well be the only one designed to primarily exhibited as a work in sound) and the reading is based on the paintings of Ivon Hitchens.
The work is called IVON HITCHENS: AN IMAGINARY EXHIBITION. The texts were read by Ronnie Duncan and Henriette Duncan. The work was only available via automatic answering machine for 24 hours a day for 8 days.
this is a very hard to find exhibition catalogue in VG+ condition.

ART FOR TODAY. 1979. SOMEONE SOMEWHERE WANTS A CABLE FROM YOU COVER.

Portsmouth: Portsmouth City Museum and Art Gallery, 1979
16.3 x 25cm, 14pp plus card covers. Exhibition catalogue for a show of new acquisitions for the museum - notable for the cover which displays a scarce Ian Hamilton Finlay print recently purchased for the institution. The notes also show that they purchase an unique glass etched work FOUR SAILS (ROSY FOR BLACK) from 1976. VG.

NATURE OVER AGAIN AFTER POUSSIN. 1980.

Glasgow: Collins Exhibition Hall, 1980 23 x 12cm, 30pp. Original wrappers with printed dust jacket . One centre page fold out. An exhibition catalogue with an introductory text by Stephan Bann and various illustrations including a garden plan by Albert Speer (who Bann and Finlay had been corresponding with and which was to cause trouble later) and a musical note by Wilma Patterson plus one fold out sheet showing various "plaques" by Finlay in the landscapes. At the back of the catalogue there is a page work by Finlay - white laid paper sheets are labelled MOSS in small type at the bottom then a dull green laid paer sheet has the text "refinements of words" on it. VG+.

21 x 15cm, 20pp plus card covers and printed dust jacket. An early monograph and exhibition catalogue discussing one aspect of Finlay's work. Illustrated in b/w throughout. as well as reprinting excerpts from the New Arcadian Dictionary and catalogue of works in the exhibition. VG+.

GRAEME MURRY GALLERY AT THE SERPENTINE. 1984

21 x 21.5cm, 48pp plus card covers and dustjacket. Exhibition catalogue for a rather strange transporting of the Murray Edinburgh Gallery to London, various works by the likes of Richard Long, Hamish Fulton, Sol Lewitt, Alan Johnson and five works by Finlay reproduced in the catalogue. VG+.

A curiosity in that the first half of this book is a short story by Harding followed by a text on the work of Finlay and Sarkis in French issued on the occasion of an exhibition LITTLE SPARTA & KREIGSSCHATZ in Chapelle Sainte-Marie, Two colour photographs and 16 b/w images of sculptural works and works in Little Sparta by Marius Alexander. An artist's book? An exhibition catalogue? We have decided the latter. VG+.

21 x 15cm, 8pp. A catalogue for the recently installed sculptural garden by Finlay at Stockwood Park in Luton. Seven images in blue and black duotone of the works and a map as well as an anonymous essay. Finlay issued a portfolio of prints with the proposals for this garden in the same year. VG+.
