LAWRENCE WEINER

Lawrence Weiner (1942  – 2021) was a key figure in the formation of conceptual art.

 

After an initial period making paintings, Weiner began to make works utilising language as the motive force.

His credo above, along with his essay on conceptual art, became an important influence on those artists drawn to conceptualism.
