15 x 11cm, outer paper envelope content of a commercial postcard issued for Penticost (“Frohliche pfingsten”). The card had a reproduced painted scene of a river boat in the countryside. Roth has however cut out the boat using scissors and has glued the oval piece on the outer paper envelope. The paper envelope has some light blue and green colouring using crayon.
The back of the cut card also has green and black crayon around the space where a stamp would normally be.
The envelope is signed in thick black ink “Dieter Roth” and dated “66”. This is a unique small mail art work by Roth who has used the technique of “cutting out” and repositioning of the cut piece in books before.
The envelope shows some signs of wear around the flap but else is in VG condition, the inside card is VG+.
The card came indirectly from the collection of Francois Norguet.
