Paris: Aux depens du public, 1949
24 x 19cm, unpaginated (56pp). Original wrappers. First edition of this political essay written by the Lettriste Pomerand for a conference that was planned for 30 novembre 1949 in La salle de la societe d’Horticulture in Paris but was banned by the Prefecture de Police. The publication of the text was a deliberate provocation on the author’s behalf obviously by choice of subject matter alone. The subject under consideration here is treated entirely in a theoretical manner and considered philosophically; the book was reputedly written in jail. One of 1,040 numbered copies on velin blanc (the du tete consisted of the first 40) but this is a rare book, in part because of its subject matter – some were seized on distribution. A near fine copy with only minor browning to the paper.
