Paris: Buchet/ Chastel, 1969
20.5 x 14cm, 176pp plus card covers. A very good example of this, the most important post-marxist theoretical work of our age. Perhaps like many political theories, there is an insufficient rigour in the supplied concepts and definitions to allow worthwhile scientific testing of the theories but the re-stating of capitalism’s hegemony as being mediated and upheld through psychological mechanisms is important and still rings true. Some marking to the white wrappers and one brown square area on first end paper (caused by a cheap promotion leaflet being there for a while). Back cover has Debord’s portrait photograph is on the left not the centre. Rare.
