OBJEKT. RICHARD LONG. 10 MILES OF A LANDSCAPE. 1969. GERRY SHUM’S FAMOUS TV EVENT – LAND ART.

£225.00

Berlin: Fernsehgalerie Gerry Schum, n.d. (1969)
10 x 14.5cm, 2pp – the b/w announcement card for the first broadcast of Long’s film “10 miles of a landscape” which was originally broadcasted by the German television station Sender Freies Berlin on 15 April 1969.

Gerry Schum pioneered the broadcasting of modern visual art to the widest audience by showing works (films) on television, bypassing the traditional institutions.

The TV programme “Land Art” showed recordings of artistic interventions in the landscape by eight artists, including Jan Dibbets, Barry Flanagan and Richard Long. Long’s film is of the artist walking a straight line for 10 miles over Dartmoor in England (there and back) and shooting the film every half mile. One b/w still on the front of the card, verso ballery details.

Very scarce card (like most of Schum’s output) in VG+ condition.
