Amsterdam: Weiner, 1974
25.3 x 20.2cm, 2pp. The original artwork/maquette created by Lawrence Weiner for the important art journal Interfunctionen which was published in the 11th number of the journal.
Weiner’s work here has the original typed texts on blue paper tipped onto a backing sheet of rules school paper along with handwritten ink additions. The sheet has also had the top left corner of the paper cut off by Weiner (something he often did to modify paper or posters).
One the top left of the sheet there is a handwritten dedication “For Rudi” (Fuchs) and signed Lawrence in black ink along with the date and place: “A’dam 1974”.
On the reverse Weiner has also written “published Interfunktionen 11, 1974” in black ink.
The backing paper is a little browned after nearly 50 years and the glue on the back of the typed blue papers has discoloured the paper a little in places. The work has also been double punched for storage but this has avoided any of the texts.
A unique and important relatively early work by the conceptual artist with the association with the Dutch conceptual art curator.
