Brussels: Le Miroir Infidele, 1946
15.4 x 11cm, 76 pp. Printed wrappers. First published edition of the text of Nouge’s title speech, as delivered on Jan. 20, 1929 (in Charleroi). Content of the first thorough exploration of (and an attempt to insinuate) music within the surrealist context. Together with Goemans, Magritte, Mesens, et al., Nouge co-founded the Belgian Surrealist Group. While Breton was infamous for his disregard of music (but for Brahms), the Belgians love their Jazz! A very good+ example of this scarce counterpoint piece which remains uncut.
