First edition of this clandestinely written (1942) appreciation that was not published until immediately after the war – a dissection of Eluard’s surrealist and dada work. There is a reproduction of a Valentine portrait of Eluard as frontispiece and hors text a b/w photograph of the poet. One of numbered 550 copies on velin de Lyon aside from 35 deluxe copies. Very good + with minor fading to spine.
