London: Art for All, 1971
A complete set of 8 Postal Sculptures each 20 x 12.5cm, 4pp printed letterpress on alternating white or cream card. Each card is dedicated in print to Roy Strong and signed in red ink by Gilbert & George.
On payment of a subscription, Gilbert & George sent these cards, each with a Limerick, to various recipients from March 11, 1971 to May 19, 1971.
The cards are in turn entitled: Lost Day, Shyness, Experience, Worldliness, Idiot Ambition, Normal Boredom, Manliness and Artist’s Culture and has internally a “limerick” written by the artists about their experiences and feelings.
There were only c. 25 of these sets printed and sent out as few subscribed. The envelopes are not here present.
There is one faint small brown spot on the right of the second card else all are in near fine condition. Obviously rare.
