Glasgow: s.p. (Maris), n.d. (2005)
29 x 21cm, original found exhibition catalogue by Joseph Beuys which has lost its covers and shows evidence of fire on all sides. The book has been sealed into a plastic transparent sheet with added cloth plasters. Additionally the book has been signed "Bysue" - an anagram of "Beuys" and with a small drawing of a hat - both deliberately looking like an original Beuys signature and drawing.
The history of this book tells the tale - it was found by a relative of Sue Maris after a house fire and stolen and then hidden (in case it was valuable). Suer Maris found this out at a later date and stole the book back from the thief. She then buried in a metal casket in Rannoch Moor for a number of years.
On taking the book out from its hiding place, the artist's created the final form with the addition of the "forged" signature - By Sue - and sealed the book. it was later given to Paul Robertson by Maris as a gift following an exhibition at Heart Gallery in Edinburgh.

Standard 7inch single, 45 rpm in card sleeve. The music consists of two French lullabies (Il Était Un Petit Navire
and Sainte-Elizabeth) and a traditional song from Bretagne (Fais Dodo Colas Mon Petit Frère).
This edition was probably made up from unused records from the deluxe edition of Boltanski's 1991 release "Livres", in which 60 copies of the record was included. This later re-release is one of 20 numbered copies each with a unique cover (an original photograph tipped onto the card sleeve. This version is unopened and unplayed - and in original plastic wrapping (hence the poor quality of the image here).

This work was stolen from the Ingleby Gallery and it is known who the thief is (the work was in his bathroom on display for many years) but despite the person writing this telling the police who and where the work was they refused to investigate without further evidence. The same thief also stole significant items from Richard Demarco's storage unit in Edinburgh in 2013. There you have it.
